About ohmyking
An independent English guide to Hong Kong food, markets and seasonal eating.
ohmyking is an independent English guide to Hong Kong food, markets and seasonal eating. We explain what things are, how they work and where they came from, in plain English: what to order at a cha chaan teng, how a wet market works, which sweet soup to try and how the 24 solar terms shape the food year.
What we are, and what we are not
- We are a guide. We do not take orders, deliver food or take payments.
- We do not list or rank shops yet. If we add listings later, each one will be checked with the shop first.
- We are not linked to any earlier website that used the ohmyking.com address.
- We are not paid by the places we write about.
How we write
Every fact on a guide page comes from a source we can name, such as the Hong Kong Observatory, Hong Kong government departments and well-referenced encyclopedia articles. Each guide lists its sources at the bottom, with links, so you can check them. Prices, opening hours and rules change, so check with a shop or market before you travel.
Photos come from Unsplash under the Unsplash License. Pictures marked "illustrative" show the kind of food or place we describe, not a specific shop.
